    How to get here

    Cristal Ballena is on the south Pacific Ocean road that runs right along this beautiful stretch of coast where the mountains unite with the sea.

    If you are coming from the western side of the Central Valley, we recommend you take Route 27, a modern toll highway that will take you down onto the Pacific lowlands from the higher altitudes.

    After exiting the highway, take the road to Jaco and continue south until you hit the surfing town of Dominical. Just keep on the road and you will see the sign to turn left and up into the hills to Cristal Ballena.

    If you are on the eastern side of the Central Valley, you best to take the Panamerican Highway that takes you via Cartago and up into the not-so-nice-name Cerro de la Muerte (The Mountain of Death).  This is a very picturesque route and you will eventually reach the busting small city of Perez Zeledon.  Continue the signs to Dominical that will take you down onto the coast and continue south.

    Our Recommendation:  Visit Hacienda Guachipelin that is on the slopes of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano in the northern province of Guanacaste. Combine the relaxation and spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean with the beauty of the dry rainforest full of adventure activities that will get your adrenaline rush going.
